Just wanted to let you know that I received an e-mail from someone in the U.K. who used the “block and replace” therapy (ATDs with synthetic thyroid). (She wasn’t able to post directly to the board) She said that this treatment is used routinely in Europe. She was on meds for 18 months, and ahas been in remission for 18 months. She said that the downside is that it involves quite a bit of follow-up for the first year afterward (she didn’t elaborate, but I can’t imagine that means more than once a month, and aren’t we kind of getting used to that anyway?)

    Kathleen,
My husband came up with the idea of using a nail clipper to split these
teeny pills. Surprisingly I haven’t crushed too many. Would you believe
Pennsylvania! I can understand your feeling uneasy about taking RAI for
the reason given. I felt uneasy reading about it! Hang in there.
