Is there a significant enough amount of hair loss to invest in a wig???

    Heather,
Not usually, although I have heard of a couple of folks who did.
I suspect it is an individual thing. Hopefully, you will not lose that much hair that you’ll need a wig. I personally couldn’t wear one as I find them extremely hot and itchy!

Here’s wishing you good luck and better health!

    Hi robheather!
People have a misconception that your hair falls out due to the RAI treatments. This is false. Your hair loss is due to your chemical imbalance in your body because of the antibodies attacking the thyroid.
While you may experience some hair loss, DianneW has posted in the past on how she lost some of hers and it came back once her thyroid levels were regulated.

I do hope this calms your jitters and gives you reassurance.

    Best Wishes,

    Hi
    I had RAI Jan. 2000.
It seemed like I lost alot of hair, but not enough to buy a wig.But it was caused by going from Hyperthyroid to hypothyroid to normal.
My Thyroid Dr. said it was caused by the major changes in my body and not by the RAI
Now 1 Year later and my hair is all back.
I would wait and see what happens. If a wig makes you feel better when and if you lose a lot of hair, go for it.
But I guess time will only tell.
    Best of luck
    Pam
