    Sandy,
Just a note about the heart palpations I have the same problem as soon as we cut down on my PTU. I talked to my doctor and endo and they said this is just a sign that there is still some hyperactivity out there. My TSH can be fine but one of the other numbers T3 or T4 off slightly and I can feel it. They assured me that this is just part of the disease and I shouldnt be overly concerned with it as I am otherwise healthy. Hope this helps. I have been on the beta blocker for almost three years now but it keeps everything in check so I figure once I have the surgery I can get off of them.

I haven’t noticed the fingernail change (mine are always rotten) but my hair has been super soft during the transition from hyper to hypo. There must be a great natural “conditioner” somewhere in the process!

At each stage, don’t stress; just enjoy what you learn and like about yourself, your body, and the changes; then also take time to appreciate that you don’t have to put up with the things you don’t like about this process for very long or all the time. This is one time in life when things are really guaranteed to change and probably change quicker than we ususally have them change. Did you follow all of that?

    Thanks Bobbie.

I guess I never thought that there was a possibility that putting nail products on my nails could make them worse. I don’t know if I could go with nothing at all on my nails, because I’ve always hated my hands and nails so tend to try to hide my hands if I have nothing on my nails. Nail polish makes me feel less self-conscious about my hands. Anyway, I suppose I should talk to an expert and find out what I should put on them to stop the damage to them.

Thanks Antiejo for your input. I’m not too stressed about it. It’s a minor annoyance. I suppose it’s just that my nails have been horrible all my life and I never thought they could be worse. Yet they are worse. I’m almost afraid they will peal right off my fingers! I’m sure they won’t, but it just strange. But I count my lucky stars and thank God every day because I was diagnosed with a treatable disease and that I can already do almost all the things I did prior to getting sick. I do miss my coffee though, but I’m surprised to discover I don’t miss drinking (alcohol) at all and am happy to have an excuse not to indulge when with friends!!

Hi kmalinowski. Thanks for your info about heart palpitations. I know that I am still hyper so figured that is why I’m still having heart palpitations. I had to quit taking beta blockers because my heart rate was dropping too low. My heart rate is good now without the beta blockers, but I have the palpitations now and then. I didn’t think it was anything to be concerned about, so I thank you.

    Thanks for your responses.

    Take care!

    Sandy
