    Hi Nina

This is how my doctors do it. I have all the specialist sent their reports to my PCP. Usually, he has refered me to them and ask them for their reports. This way my endo takes care of my thyroid, and my PCP takes care of anything else that is going on. Since I have several issues I usually see my PCP every 3 months. That way he can check on my meds (my edno takes care of my thyroid meds) and check me over. I guess that I’m very fortunate with my PCP that he takes time with me, but then I’ve been seeing him for about 15 years. If you do not like the care that your PCP is giving you then maybe it is time to look for a new one.

Generally, our endos or PCPs only take care of our eyes if we do not have a problem with them. If we feel that something is starting, have your endo refer you to who you need to go it.

Where as books to read concern your heart. I’m assuming you mean in regards to your Graves Disease. Any of the ones listed on our website would have some information about that. I do not know of any that cover just those.

    Hope this helps.

    Dear Diane and fellow members,
Thanks for your message. I was just seen by my internal medical MD last week — this was the first time I was seen by him since being diagnosed with what seems to be a mild form of Graves’ Disease, which seems primarily to be affecting my left eye. He spent less than 10 minutes or less with me and seemed to pass off my questions relating to his role in managing my condition. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but I wanted to know how my care would be co-ordinated between him, the endocrinologist, and eye MD. For example, I’m aware that my heart, cholesterol level, etc. could be adversely affected in the future if suddenly my condition worsens. What publication would you recommend that I read relating to this. Is my endocrinologist expected to handle all the aspects of this disease, other than my eye symptoms. I’ll be seeing the endo again on 11/6. I do feel very down on some days, but am trying to remain positive, as I know my condition could be much more severe. Any comments you would have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nina
