Yep, I’m a gutless scaredy cat!! If they’d knock me out for the procedure then wake me up afterwards I wouldn’t be so worried. SO, I plan to take an antivan (tranquilizer) and listen to CDs. Too bad there isn’t an acupunture/pressure spot where they could block the pain and we could avoid the needles!!! Mona
Is it safe for you to take the tranquilizer and then have the anesthesia that they’ll administer to you? You should first check with your dentist to be sure that it’s okay to mix the two. As for me, I have to take antibiotics before my procedure (with Grave’s I’ve developed a mitral valve prolapse). And since I hate any type of medication, a tranqulizer will be out of the question (don’t want to punp too much into my system), but the CDs are a good idea. Andrea Bocelli is very soothing.

I guess I’ll have to check with pharmacist about mixing too many drugs in one sitting. I also have to take antibiotics for MVP. The MVP was found before Graves. Especially important to take when we’re on ATDs…don’t want to take ANY chance for infection!!!
I was diagnosed with a heart murmur years ago, but no one said anything to me about MVP until after my Grave’s diagnosis. I wonder if it’s been there all the while. Interesting…

Hi Ree –
I was also diagnosed with a heart murmur when I was 7. The docs told my parents I was showing symptoms of rheumatic fever. My tonsils and adenoids were removed–which was common practice in 1957. They were reportedly double the normal size.
I have also fairly recently been diagnosed with MVP (Mitral Valve Prolapse). I also wonder whether they’re related, or basically the same thing. Hmmm.
Hugs,
