My endo told me that in the absence of thyroid symptoms (which he never
has asked me to list), I was only allowed one TSH test per year. He refuses
to order a T3 or T4 test for me even though I have told him that you
can’t go by TSH tests for me. TSH is normal even with no T3 at all.
It is a problem with any HMO and any arrogant know-it-all doctor especially
if he’s on capitation payments which pay him more if he saves money on
tests.
I am currently a systems consultant for an HMO and I’ve seen such payments
go out. If this isn’t a conflict of interest, what is?Well if i go to the doctor for every little sneeze
it’s because im sick sweetie!
and i can’t take care of myself to well,
but im not trying to abuse the system
if i was i dont care, because im sick and
i come first until im well again, and that goes for you too girl
love stevegood to see another man on the bb , hang in there bro
take care
Steve now you know I’m not refering to Graves or any other disease.
We are talking about the commom cold here. Antway we can debate
this subject on our failing health care system through email.Shannon.
Last time I saw my Endo, I had to correct him on what he wrote on the blood form. I’m on a thyroid suppressant and he forgot to check the box for a platelet count. I also had to correct him on my past treatment. He was saying that he had sent me for a Pituitary Gland test….sorry, doc. No you didn’t. He had the wrong file in front of him. EEEK. I suppose they are only human. Best we remember that and keep them honest.
Thanks for the good chuckle, “Crazy”. Although, perhaps, “Sneaky” would have been a better term. : )
Take care,
B.
Just had to respond the various posts about bloodwork. I have never gone more than four weeks without TSH and T4 being checked. At the present time I am having CBC, ESR, TSH and T4 done every two weeks. This is what my doctor is ordering following RAI. He said he wants to catch hypo before it gets a chance to take hold and since I am also still on PTU, he is checking red and white cell blood counts. I live in Canada and although I am not paying now for these tests, I have certainly paid in taxes for years. That is what it is – health insurance. I pay whether I need it or not so that it will be there when I need it.

Ouch! I guess I hit a touchy subject. I’m very thankful for caring
doctors and a good health care plan! FYI, we have people taking advantange
of the health care system in Minnesota, too. I hate to say it, but it’s
mostly welfare recipients and Medicaid! Yes, Shannon, this is definitely
a subject to be debated through email!Wishing you all health and happiness, Debby
Hello , Benda
Its sounds like you have the endo i want ,sounds like he should get
endo of the year award. Is it possible he’s in Ontario because if he is
i want to see this doctor, your very lucky.take care,
steve
forgive me please, i spelled your name wrong
steve
I am confused. Some people are talking about their thyroid antibody levels so what is the name of that test. I don’t think I have ever had it done. the only thyroid lab work I have had is T3, T4, TSH. I didn’t have insurance so alot of times the doc would just do the T4 because he said it was the most important number. So just based on that lab work, H&P, and the uptake and scan I was treated. Was I missing some important aspect?
