No, based on your description of your treatment, swelling under the cast, etc. does not sound like any Graves symptom I’ve ever heard of.

It is not abnormal, however, for only one eye to appear more involved than the other.

It sounds like you have had a real siege of things, and I hope you are feeling much better, soon.

I have been on PTU for about a year and a half now. I have just recently started getting huge bruises from any little thing. The appear out of no wear and they don’t hurt like a regular bruise. Is this something that the PTU is causing to happen or is it something else completely unrelated???

This does not sound good. And, no, it is not something we’ve seen here before, or that any one of us is qualified to analyze for you. Check with your doctor.

It would be a good idea to call your endo and let him/her know what is going on. PTU may affect your wbc so he may want to do blood work on you or he might feel that it is nothing to be concerned about. Let your doctor make that decision.

When I went hypo I was bruising like crazy. … like a banana! There were bruises on my body when I didn’t even remember running into anything. When they increased my synthroid and I stopped being hypo – the bruises stopped. I also get something that looks like ringworm or ezyma on my temples and sometimes arms when I am too far on either side. Very strange I know!
