    Raspy Voice: the nerve the works the vocal cords runs directly through the thyroid. Thus, if the thyroid enlarges the nerve can possibly be adversely affected. It may also be that the vocal cords themselves are somewhere near the thyroid, and so any thyroid enlargement might directly affect their ability to fully vibrate.

    Yes, I believe it is possible for the levels of one of the thyroid hormone to fluctuate more than the other, so that one is in range and the other out-of-range. For a definitive answer, though, you should ask your doctor.

    Hey does anyone know why the “Raspy Voice” happens with hyperthryoid? Also why can we have a high/low T3 but have a normal T4?
