Hi…I just found this board yesterday and all I can say is Thank you! I have been reading page after page and have found such useful information.

My husband was diagnosed in July with Graves. We are both 38 and have been healthy up until this point. Its been a roller coaster the last few months. He was taking 40mg of Tapazole once a day. His lab work came back with no change. He was having a few side effects mainly muscle spasms in his arms and legs. The worst problem with the Graves is the fatigue, he is tired all the time. He is also a truck driver who is home every day but works 10-11 hours each night. So sleep is pretty darn important to his safety. The doctor suggested RAI. He did the uptake last week and is scheduled for RAI this Thursday. The dosage will be 3.6 that means nothing to me, is that a low or high dose?

Prior to finding this board I was reading another website and all I read was horror stories. After more research and talking with others I think he has made the right decision with the RAI. Just hoping the first dose will do the trick and he can get on the road to recovery. Which I understand will be a process in itself.

I’m just so glad I found this site. Thank you…Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

The amount depends on if it is millicuries. The average dose is 12 millicuries. I had 13 almost ten years ago and am doing great. Just remember he did not get sick overnight so the recovery will also take some time. Don’t push it.

Day by day he will feel better.

We are only a click away.
