It’s hard to say where these could be coming from ~ you’re so early on in the process, it’s quite possible that your hot spells may continue to some degree (far less than before, certainly) until you are confirmed hypo. Another possibility is that you are perimenopausal (not sure of your age, my apologies if that’s WAY off), and the changes in your thyroid hormone have thrown a proverbial wrench into THAT process, causing more flashes than usual.
I’m not sure anyone will be able to tell you exactly, right this minute. You could ask your endo and see if they have an opinion. If they don’t, go to your ob/gyn and see what they say.
As for travelling, not sure what to say about that either. Perhaps your doctor can send you with a filled prescription for a "beginner’s dose" of thyroid hormone replacement, with instructions NOT to take it unless and until you have been instructed to do so. That removes the question of "how do I get the replacement hormone while I’m out of town" but of course you still need someone to order and evaluate your lab tests, to determine when you have gone hypo and need to begin taking replacement. You’d be wise to contact a lab local to where you intend to travel and see what they would need in terms of authority ~ perhaps you can even take a lab slip (or five) from your own doctor, then use them as needed.
Thanks Ski for your response.

(p.s. I’m 59 …now don’t you tell anyone)
Hey Everybody
As some of you know, I am 5 weeks out from having RAI….went through the almost manic stage 2 weeks out, and bp shot up to 169/96….now I’m on beta blockers and they seem to keep my bp at a normal rate.
One thing I was so pleased about after the RAI was that about 3 weeks out I noticed that my hot spells/sweating seemed to be further apart and less intense, and thought Yay !! I’m over those darn things, and heading into hypo. Got results of blood draw last Thursday and told that I’m still hyper and my count as gone down a wee bit. I didn’t get numbers, guess I should do that in order to properly get across things to folks here. ANYWAY , my hot spells and sweats/flashes or whatever you want to call them are back again with a vengeance. Noticed this a couple of days ago. What’s going on !! Could it be that I’m not getting any further with my hyper to hypo state or could this be the start of my hypo state, this all confuses me. I thought the hot spells and sweating were due to hyperthyroid state.
I have another blood draw on the 17th of this month, and will get the results on the 24th. It is getting close to my traveling time, leave here for the winter, and concerned that I won’t be able to find a doctor to monitor me while I’m down south, and if I should be considering leaving my doctor here at all.
Any comments on the sweats???
