Well it’s always best to cover your questions with all the doctors before you proceed without your medication, even for a short time, though my GUESS is that your endo will be okay with it. They’ll know your history and can give you the best answer, but if you’ve been on the med long enough that your levels are pretty well controlled, then your body *should* be able to handle this. Still, the endo may have some "workaround" to suggest so that you miss the least possible doses, or may want to speak with the diagnostic team to find out whether it is really essential that you skip THIS medication for this test. Always better to ask ahead of time than to find out later ~ no one cares as much about us as we do, so we do need to be the best possible advocate, and it sounds like you’re doing that.
Good luck on the tests, and I really hope they find and solve your problem SOON!!
Long story short, I started having severe pain under my ribs. I called my endo he ran tests on my liver enzymes said they were fine. Because of the area where the pain is he said it was most likely my gallbladder and told me to see my family doctor. My family doctor scheduled an ultrasound but the instructions are no food or water for 8-10 hours prior to the ultrasound and no medication the day before and the day of until the ultrasound was done.
If I can’t take my methimazole the day before and the day of the test that’s 3 doses I’m missing. That makes me a little nervous but my family doctor said no worries. I called my endo and am waiting for a call back. Am I right to be worried about missing that many doses of the medicine. I worry because I am actually feeling better and I don’t want to feel awful again. I also don’t want to live with this pain any longer in my side if I don’t have to. Any opinions.
Thanks
JessicaHi Jessica, how did your ultrasound go? I hope you checked with your docs, and am guessing that you found that it was fine to take your meds, but either way, it is now a week later, and I hope all of this is behind you. How are you feeling now? I surely understand that you don’t want to feel awful again, and equally glad the ADT’s are working, and that you feel better after being on them.
