Hi jeannebeth – I have heard of those plugs – my Mom had them put in her eyes about 6 months ago for a dry eye problem – they do help. Now I am wondering why she had this dryness — now that I know (and have) about TED!!! Perhaps bloodwork for her in near future.. Hope the plugs continue to help you – Gail

    Hi all,
I went to an optomologist yesterday becasue like many of you I have been experiancing DRY EYES and am concerned about TED. Gratefully I have no symptoms of TED, but the dry eyes lead me to have many tubes and bottles of eye drops and lubricants spread all over my home and car and purses. The optomologist suggested Punctal Plugs and I was wondering if anyone else has heard of these and did they work for you? He actually inserted them into my tear ducts yesterday and i am experiancing relief! My right eye is still a bit dry feeling, but I slept through the night without have to put lubricant in either eye and i have awoken without having to put drops in them just to wake up!

I have a question for anyone who has had the plugs put in to try to counteract dryness in the eyes. How was it done? What was the outcome? Did it really help? Etc.

    Thanks, in advance.

    Hi Bobbi,

I had the plugs put in my eyes about 3 months ago. I had it done at the doctors office. They were these little blue tubes and the doctor used tweezers to put them in. It really didn’t hurt. I think they helped me a lot. I was told they would disolve in 2 1/2 to 3 months. I hope this helps and I would do it again if given the choice.
