As we get older, our skin looses its ability to bounce back from swelling, etc. So, how much those bags under your eyes might recede depends a lot on your age and skin condition.

And, on another point: you should never, ever go that hypo if appropriately timed blood tests are ordered. If you were ignoring advice to get blood tests, that’s one thing. But if you were never told to have the dose checked periodically, you might want to find a different doctor.

Bobbi, I did indeed miss an appt with the dr, but never thought I would go so hypo so fast. I am still suffering from hypo, especially the abdominal muscle aches, even though my TSH is now 1.5. I’m guessing it will take a while to for my body to fully recover. I am 40 so I’m hoping that there will be some recovery. It’s so bad I’m considering cosmetic surgery for my eyes.

I have a situation which is not uncommon for graves/hyper. I was diagnosed 4/10 with graves, but symptomatic for about 5 years prior, at least. I was prescibed Methimazole in July, but took much too much, for far too long and became severely hypo/TSH 46. I had tons of symptoms from the hypo, hair loss, severe muscle aches in the abdomen, and extremely tired. However the most annoying of these is UNBELIEVABLY ENORMOUS puffy bags and dark circles under my eyes. I didn’t have them with the hyper/graves, only when I became hypo. Now that my TSH levels have leveled off, can I expect that these bags will subside a bit?

    Thanks
