You need to talk with her doctor ASAP. Whether or not it is wise to continue on a medication that is causing hives (whether the allergic reaction could worsen and become life-threatening) is a medical decision.
Good luck,
Her Dr. is aware, if the situation does not worsen this week, we speak again on Friday to determine a course of action. Just wondering if some side affects go away with time. I am worried about RAI at this age, right before puberty.
To get to the heart of your question:

That is positive news.
My personal experience has been that any itching and hives DID subside once a euthyroid state was achieved and smaller maintenance doses or ATD’s were administered. Typically larger doses are administered initially to the thyroid levels down expediently. My doctor was far more concerned about other side effects (which fortunately I didn’t experience). My choice was to stay the course and my Doctor worked with me to that end. Proper ATD management is SO crucial. As always, make sure your Doctor is aware of any and all side effects (which it appears that you are doing). Good on you for being such a concerned mother.
Take care,
James

For some reason to day the body aches are gone as abruptly as they came. THANK YOU GOD! I was at the brink of screaming my body hurt so bad. So I’m not sure what they deal is but, I’m not complaining!!!! I still have muscle weakness but thats no big deal. Pain was the big deal and …well it’s gone!Good Luck to you all.
Oh! Halleluia!!! I am soooo glad the body aches are gone for you!!!!!!!! The two things I really hate about this adventure was the racing heart (gone after about a month of beta blockers) and the body aches.
My treat is Caffeine Free Pepsi too!
I am so glad to read your good news!!
TP
THANKS!
How are you doing? Hope all is well.
” title=”Very Happy” /> I only smile because it is absolutely disgusting. Avoid sodas, and o.j. especially within the first 3 hrs. of a dose. I take 150mg twice a day, and have been for awhile. It doesn’t get better and you never get use to it.
I have been on the PTU for 13 months and it has helped with some symptoms, for example, the racing heart. It does leave a strange metal taste in your mouth, and I was told to always take it with food, otherwise you will get alot of stomach pain. Never take it with grapefruit juice or grapefruit, it enhances the effectiveness of all meds. Who knows if that is good or not.
