Back in January I was diagnosed with pretibial myxedema. Unfortunately, until I can get my thyroid regulated (still waiting on disability appeal determination) there isn’t much that can be done.

A couple of weeks ago, I started having severe pain around my ankle and knee joints. I was in the hospital and brought this pain and the lumps I could feel to the attention of the attending physician. I had an ultrasound done; and I was told that it wasn’t blood clots or bone spurs. The only thing that he could come up with after a brief discussion with the attending Endo, was that it was deposits of hyaluronic acid? WHAT? I wish some of these things I could be making up. But I’m not!

So, I was wondering does anyone know how bad that is? From what I’ve googled I am still oblivious to the severity. I need lamens terms. I usually can follow, but I am totally confused. AND is there anyone else that has or has had this problem associated with PM?

That is the first time I’ve heard that term….but am having the PM myself. My PA put me on Lasix recently and I lost 5 pounds of water in 5 days. I can relate to the painful part. After the birth of my last child we all thought I had post eclampsia but now in hindsight I’m wondering.

I’ll look up the term and see if I can find out anything about it.

Buttamamma, Go to http://www.thyroidmanager.org and do a search on the term. It comes up with about 9 entries.
