    Hello and welcome! You had also asked about RAI in your other post. The latest guidelines from the American Thyroid Association say to wait at least 6 months post-RAI before becoming pregnant. There are no restrictions following surgery, *however* it is important to get your thyroid hormone levels stabilized prior to trying to conceive. Being hypER or hypO during a pregnancy is dangerous for both mother and baby.

    There are also posters here who have had successful pregnancies while on Anti-Thyroid Drugs. Women who are pregnant are usually switched to PTU during the first trimester, since the other drug, methimazole, has a higher risk of two specific birth defects.

    I would suggest doing a search on this site for “pregnancy”, as there are posters here for whom conception planning was a major part of the treatment decision process. It might be helpful for you to read their stories.

    I was recently diagnoised with graves..I think I have been sick since.I had my daughter two years ago. We would love to.get pregnant again, but want to know if.anyone were able to conceive with ptu or surgery?
