Hello – We’re fellow patients here, so ultimately, your doctor needs to be OK with your dosing regimen.

I’ve more commonly heard of patients alternating doses every other day when the standard doses don’t produce that “just right” effect, rather than taking one big extra dose a week. However, I would ask your doc why she is suggesting this. Perhaps she is trying to keep you from needing two different prescriptions, or maybe she thinks that a once a week adjustment would be easier to remember.

Wish I could help with an opinion but I’m very new to this…just had my TT July 16th. I’ll be following along with interest since this could be a question I will have in the near future.

My first endo, when increasing me from 100 mcg to 112 mcg, said I could do the increase to 112 or I could take 100 mcg 6 days a week and 200 mcg 1 day a week. I opted for the 112! Something about taking 200 at once seemed kind of crazy! I guess it works, but I’m sensitive to meds., and wasn’t about to try it. I did (for awhile) take 112 mcg. 6 days a week and 100 mcg 1 day a week when my TSH was 0.29. But, now that my TSH is 1.6, I’m taking 112 everyday.
