Been about 20 days they cut my synthriod from 200 to 100 and put me on atenolol 50mg twice day just want someone to say yup because all crazy thoughts go through my head said takes about 6 weeks before my dosage will show difference with me. Been having great moments but some bad ones creep up. ANYONE else done somthing like thisMakes perfect sense that if you lost 40 pounds, your dosage should have been lowered and makes perfect sense that if it wasn’t, you would be starting to feel hyper.
I’m surprised it takes 6 weeks to see the change, though….. but at least you know you’re heading in the right direction and relief is on it’s way.
Good luck, and congrats on the weight loss!
Suewell just helps to here if others have same experances just like to hear it in my state of mind right now thanks to who ever comments. What time frame do you think it should be maybe some of my problems is dwelling on my body and mind instead of just getting on with things but wow is it hard. Crazy how i can be working out like crazy lifting more weight then ever and running to laying in bed thinking i am done wow done it before but still freaks heck out of me. Now lay hear waiting for a heart to skip beat again and feeling drained.w a Checking heart rate every now and again lol
Hello and welcome! – Thyroid hormone replacement has a fairly long “half life” of approximately a week. This means that when you take a dose of meds today, half of that amount will still be in your system in 7 days…one-fourth will remain in 14 days…then one-eighth will be left in 28 days. That’s why it takes a few weeks to fully see the results of any type of change. Hopefully, your doctor has a follow up scheduled for you within the next few weeks to see if the new dose is correct, or if it needs further tweaks.
thank you so much so it depends on how overmedicated i was will have to wait for results do you think a month is long enough to get tested again or wait full 6 weeks thank u for all you info and even though your results might be normal could it take bit before your hyper symptoms subside thanks you again you are awsome
Hello – I would follow your doctor’s guidance on how long to wait before following up. However, if he/she did not schedule a follow up at all, I would definitely push for one. As levels approach the normal range, you *should* see relief from symptoms, although occasionally, they can linger until you’ve been stable for a while. Take care!
