Hello fellow Gravesters,

I was finally diagnosed with Grave’s last year, but believe that I have been dealing with it for most of my life. I had RAI this past May. I am doing well, for the most part, and started on Levothyroxine a few days ago.

I have been thinking about my family history and certain traits that people in previous generations seem to share, and wondering if there might be some connection (at least some anectodal information related to co-morbidity) with respect to some of these traits or conditions/health problems.

I am curious about the possible connection (co-morbidity) between Graves’ disease and either Asperger’s-like traits (not actually Asperger’s, though), or at least, insensitivity to social cues. Also, curious about the possible connection (co-morbidity) between Graves’ and strabismus and/or amblyopia; abnormal jawbone growth; receding gums; and trigger finger. Thanks in advance for any thoughts that others have to share.

Strabismus can certainly occur with thyroid eye disease, but it can also occur particularly in children, in the absence of TED.

I’m not familiar with a connection with the other issues that you mentioned, but perhaps others here will be able to chime in.
