Funny you should ask that question.

Many of us ask for dental work without Novocain. That does not mean we go through our dental work in pain. Novocain has epinephrine in it and can cause rapid heart beat and such.

I ask for the shot that does not have epinephrine in it so I do not get the shakiness or rapid heart rate. The dentists use epinephrine because it helps to constrict blood vessels so less bleeding. It also helps the Novocain to last longer in our system.

The shot (Sorry cannot remember the name of the pain killer) takes a bit longer to work and wears off faster. I split a tooth before the conference and am having it removed tomorrow. It is a tooth I split almost 20 years ago way before Graves’ and I was fortunate to have kept it this long. Now it has to go.

So just ask your dentist to use the pain killer without epinephrine.

We are only a click away,

I was just curious if anyone has had any bad effects from having had novacaine and afterwards (like the next few days) it effecting the side of the face (back to the ear and up by the temple) and within the eye …… like something to do the the nerves and causing inflammation (it feels warm). My left eye has always been the worse w/TED and it is very sore after this dental work. ??
