Since it’s truly, at its root, a chemical deficiency of thyroid hormone, it’s hard to do anything that will make you feel as if that’s balanced. You won’t really feel balanced until it IS truly balanced. A little stretching may help, but watch for muscle cramps, because lack of thyroid hormone can bring that on. For the most part, I would suggest that you go easy on yourself. Don’t overbook ~ know that you’ll be feeling this way for a while, so limit your commitments until you DO start to feel better.

I did not go nearly as hypo as you are, so I don’t know if my suggestion will help at all, but you could give it a test. While I was hypo, I discovered that if I did a wee bit of exercise (and I do mean "wee") that I felt more energized. So, I would drag myself off to the out-of-doors to do a leisurely walk on nice days — no more than half an hour, and a bit less if I was feeling truly punk. But getting myself out and moving made me feel better, so it became easier to do that over time.

I do hope you are feeling much, much better, soon.

Hello, I am new to these boards and new to Graves as well…diagnosed Hyper in Dec 2009, had RAI in Jan 2010, and turned Hypo in just 5 weeks post RAI. TSH is around 97 (with high end of range around 4.5 at my lab) and T4 is 0.2 (with low end of normal range around 0.8 at my lab). This was not surprising as I had already experienced some weight gain, sensitive to cold, mood swings, depression, dry skin, etc. Doctor has started me on Synthroid…been taking for less than a week. I know that it can take weeks / months / etc to reglate your hormones back to the appropriate level. As expected, some days I feel better than others <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can increase my energy levels on the days (like today) where I can barely get out of bed and feel very fatigued…I can barely even function at work! Again, I know that it takes time to fully regulate my hormone levels, but are there things I can be doing (eating certain things, light exercise, etc) that can help minimize the debilitating fatigue while I recover…

    Thanks!
