    my 22 yr old son has just rec d the diagnoses of Graves …we are all very upset as im sure you can imagine. Questions with little answers is what we have gotten. His one eye was protruding now after being on Tapazole 15mg daily for one month his other eye is not buldging as well! Is this normal? Will they eyes ever go back to normal……for some reason no one can say either way for sure!

    Hello – I’m sorry to hear about your son’s diagnosis, but I’m glad that you found us.

    I don’t recall seeing research on this, but I’ve personally known patients who had issues with bulging prior to diagnosis that went back to normal treatment had been initiated. This seems to be especially true of people who had symptoms in only one eye. The more normal course is that eye symptoms progress over a period of months or years and then eventually reach a stable phase.
