is it just me…or is the time way off on the posts???
My memory loss is still prevalent and I was dx back in November; the levels are near normal but I still have the memory loss, the insomnia at night, the dizziness upon lying down and the muscle weakness. Doc keeps telling me it will all go back to normal.
YEs, but when?
I am not medically cleared to return to work. I am unemployed but if I was still working for the company I was at when I was dx, you mean to tell me I’d be sitting home because of the GD for just about an entire year??? I go back to the doc at the end of September.
Hi,
Is it your bilurubin levels which are elevated? I had that constantly at the beginning of my diagnosis and it was the medication. I was mortified when I heard the results as I worked with this endo at the time and replied but I don’t even drink He said that it was most likely the meds but they weren’t so elevated that they were causing a great concern. I remember bursting into tears on like the 5th occassion that I got a phone call at work to say I had to be re-tested as they were more elevated that before ” title=”Sad” /> ” title=”Sad” />
However, my boss who has Chron’s disease had to come off all meds as her levels were very elevated and dangerous.
Its good they are keeping a close eye on you. I suppose avoiding high fat foods/alcohol etc.. wouldn’t do any harm in the meantime until they can get it sorted – it may be they need to change you to a different form of medication.
Hope they get it all sorted xxx
thanks!
He is changing the antidepressant that I am on…(for concentration)…I can tell a difference but it is also making me very very tired…. He thinks that may be the cause.
He told me too that I have to come in every 3-4 weeks for blood tests just to make sure it is ok. He is a great doctor and said that if it takes me 50 years of paying $10.00 a month, he is ok with that…of course that made me cry! There really are some good DO’s out there. I trust mine 100% and wouldnt go to a specialist unless he didnt make things better. In my case, he does.
I drink maybe 24 beers and 15 margaritas a year…so I dont think that it is an alcohol problem…and since I have been on meds, hardly any at all! Maybe the things we eat out (fast food) has more iodine than we think…maybe will try to start eating more fresh fruits and veggies…not to say going cold turkey on fast food, just try to cut back.
I am so glad I have you guys here!
Hello!
Finally went back to the doctor and did my blood test. Not having insurance, he only runs the tests that he needs to so that we keep cost to a minimum!
He ran my T4 which came down from 18 in May to 16 now
But he also said that I am still Hyper and it is still too high
Then he said that I have elevated liver enzymes and he wants to monitor that more closelyI was diagnosed in March with Tremors, night sweats, weight loss (20 lbs in two months) and a host of other symptoms.
Tremors only in morning now but I am still HOT all the time, not losing weight anymore and panic attacks are getting better. My memory still not back and I fear never will be!
Anyway, my question to Ski or anyone out there…have you had any problem with elevated liver enzymes? Could it just be the medicine I am taking? Is it something I am eating (try to stay completely away from iodine, but don’t always know)…
Thank you for your help
Amber
Amber – I concur that this liver enzymes frequently elevate because of meds. It is important to watch this closely so that your doctor can adjust meds if needed. Are you on an antithyroid?
