Hi, all, I haven’t been here for a while, well maybe a week or so. I am on my 3rd week of meds, 20mg per day. I go to the endo on Friday, it’s my first appt with him. I have been having a bad sore throat on the same side that my thyroid lump is on and my neck is really sore all the way around. I have a high pain tolerance, really, I do, but this is getting annoying. I have read the pharmacy list of possible side effect of the meds, nothing about neck pain, so have any of you had this problem? The sore throat I wouldn’t be worried about except it’s only on the one side. I hope everyone is doing well.

If what you have is more like a sore throat that comes with a cold, that should be listed on the side effects. If it’s more like muscle stiffness, that’s not typically something that comes as a side effect to meds, but the fact that it occurred at the same time as you began taking meds might be something to consider. If you develop a fever as well as a "sore throat" feeling, you may want to call the endos office and see what they say ~ they may send you for a lab test to check your white blood cell count. Otherwise, checking with the doctor on Friday may be enough, but since you say it’s something rather more dramatic than just a little soreness, you still may want to call them just to help ease your concerns.
