    Good morning all!
After being up vomiting at 1:30 this morning, thought I would ask if anyone else deals with this.
I have nausea all the time, at varying levels, from mild to severe causing vomiting. This has been going on for several months. ( I was diagnosed 4/26). I’ve found that I absolutely have to keep something in my stomach or it gets worse. Doc says that my metabolism running so high, it blows thru the food in my stomach and when its gone, its still trying to ‘eat’ something, like my stomach is trying to eat itself 😮
I have finally noticed a pattern, seems I vomit twice a week and after I do, the nausea is gone. After several hours, it will start up slowly, light nausea and continue to get worse over the course of 2-3 days, no matter what I eat, until I vomit again. it did this before meds and has not changed any as of yet, of course now I am on high dosage of ATD readying for surgery. Only been on meds for a week anyway. I normally eat a little something every hour or 2, a yogurt, half a sandwich, not much, I have little appetite, but know I Must keep something in there. Yesterday was the ‘bad’ day, heavy nausea all day, no matter what I ate or drank building up until 1:30 am. I should have known it was coming! After the vomiting, nausea went away, had a bowl of rice chex with almond milk and went to bed about 3. This morning the nausea is minimal.
Sounds crazy, but has anyone else dealt with this?

I have a GP that responds to issues like this one by doing an elimination diet type of thing to figure out what might be going on. A number of years ago I was plagued by nausea, and he had me discontinue a group of foods. It turned out, though, that the culprit was sorbitol — one of the diet sweeteners used in a lot of “sugar free” products ….like chewing gum, ice cream, etc. This is known to cause intestinal upset in some folks, but it was a surprise to my doctor that it caused me to experience nausea. My son, too, if he consumes too much of it at one sitting. Anyway, it sounds like it might be productive for you to brainstorm along these lines. It might not be sorbitol that is causing your problem, but you might discover something else.

Hi Bobbi, thanks for the reply. Since being diagnosed and doing research, I have stopped Equal and as many chemicals as possible. I can’t afford organic, but no processed foods, no artificial anything if I can help it, I read all labels. Lean meats, fruit, veggies, 12 grain bread, no high fructose corn syrup, very little dairy, natural yogurt and sharp cheddar in small amounts, bought almond milk instead of regular and don’t like it except on cereal. This is the hard part, milk helped keep down the nausea, but I understand it has iodine. No seafood and of course, my favorite food in the world is sushi, guess I’ll never have that again. But like I said, this has been going on for months, pretty much the whole time I’ve had hyper symptoms.
I feel like I am taking up everyone’s time, but there is so much I don’t know and always wonder if it’s just me or if others have shared some of this weird stuff.
    Thanks again!

Hello – Hopefully, you will see some relief once the meds kick in, but if not, I would definitely be persistent until you find a doctor who can help you find the root cause. Nausea/vomiting can potentially have numerous causes.

Also, I thought I’d mention that my levels are stable on ATDs, and I do enjoy an occasional sushi outing, although it’s not a staple of my diet like it was before. :)

Oh Kimberly! If I could just have sushi once a year, like on my B-day, I’d be happy!
I broke down and bought low fat milk, I’ll still use the almond milk on my cereal, but the regular milk really does help the nausea for me. I also got Zantac, Dr told me to get something a couple months ago, but I forgot, like I forget a lot of stuff. And that is bothersome!
Thanks all for the input! Today as been the ‘just a little’ nausea day, so maybe with the Zantac I can break the pattern. Off to make some healthy tacos, don’t want that coming up for sure LOL!
