We don’t typically have nodules with Graves’ Disease, not the nodules that are a localized "mass" different than the surrounding tissue. Those are a different phenomenon entirely.

Classic Graves’ uptake is a diffuse pattern across the entire gland, and high percentage uptake. Sometimes it gets confusing because the way they will refer to that is "multinodular toxic goiter," or something like that, making a person think they have several nodules, when that’s not exactly what that means. The pattern is relatively important in determining normal/abnormal uptake also, so did anyone mention the pattern of uptake in your results? If the pattern AND percentage were normal in your results, then that pretty much speaks for itself. Normal is normal for a reason.

Low TSH is a problem, but thyroiditis can also cause transient hyperthyroidism. Luckily, it typically resolves very quickly, so let’s hope that’s what’s happening with you.

Hello there… So I posted about all of my symptoms, TPOAb positive result (160) and of course low TSH a few weeks ago. My doctor also ordered a Thyroid Uptake & I completed the Uptake on this past Tuesday & Wed. I picked up the results at the outpatient center yesterday. Basically it showed that my Uptake was normal. It was 8.4% the first 4 hours and then after 24 hours it was 24.8%. Sooooo…I suppose I should be glad, but at the same time I’m not. I’m afraid that this is going to send my Primary Doctor in a different direction then I want to go. She may tell me now that she wants to "monitor" and retest Thyroid Hormones in 6 mo and go from there. I personally think that I need to move forward with other AutoAntibody testing. The fact that my Uptake looks normal still does not rule out Autoimmune Disease from what I understand correct? If anything, I feel like it further confirms Autoimmune because of the lack of the presence of nodules etc that could otherwise have caused me to become Hyperthyroid. How many of you had a normal Uptake result only to be diagnosed with Graves anyway?

How much does your thyroid play on being overweight? I take thyroid medicine and it seems that when I started taking thyroid medicine years ago I started putting on weight. Now I am quite a bit overweight. Nothing seems to help. My thyroid has never been regulated right. Doctors just don’t seem to pay much attention when I bring this up.

Sorry, I’m not sure if the above post is legit, or if it’s one of those "general" ones that spammers have been using to try and sneak on our boards.

I would suggest using the "search" function in the top left-hand corner of the screen and doing a search for "weight" to read about other posters’ experiences. If you are a legitimate poster and you have further questions, please let us know.
