I know you’re supposed to wait an hour after taking your thyroid meds to eat, but I have been staying away from milk in the morning since it has calcium in it.

Can we have milk in the morning or is that a no no?

I have milk in my cereal and haven’t had any issues. I don’t think the amount of calcium in milk is enough to cause an issue. I wait an hour or 2 before eating though (usually) after I take Synthroid (as opposed to just 30 min.).

and I wait 1/2 hour after Synthroid at the very least, is usually is a bit more than that. I don’t think about milk at all, metabolizing the calcium supplements is a bit different, i think, than having milk or cereal, or a little cheese. But I don’t really know.Shirely

Hello – If you look at the Synthroid site (the “How to Use” tab in the “Safety Facts” section), they specifically mention supplements, but not calcium-rich foods. Oddly enough, they mention a restriction on walnuts, which I have *never* heard of!
