I have had 2 treatments of RAI, then had a thyroid storm. I have had orbital decompression surgery. I am taking levothyroxin 137mcg daily..
Im 46 years old always tired no energy at all.. think hormones are doing something
to me lately.. I have told my dr he says tests look fine??
My cycles are every 2or 3 months and when they come i feel like im dying? emotions out of control, bad cramps, heavy periods and cant sleep…These are my symptoms daily: no patience, tired all the time, no interest in
activities, weight gain, crying, NO ENERGY. moody, mental fog. insomia, disconnect from family,I need a support group.. I want me back…. I feel all alone:(
I would try to find another doctor. If you have symptoms then something must be out wack whether it’s thyroid or something else. I had a much better doctor second time around. Maybe look up a holistic practitioner who is a doctor. They may be more understanding even if you can only go for one visit. Good luck. Keep us posted on how you are feeling.
Hi Judy – Wow, I’m sorry to hear you are dealing with all of this. It might be helpful to visit a gynecologist to see if he/she can shed some light on the cramping and the heavy periods.
It also might be helpful to get a hard copy of your lab reports so you can see for yourself where you fall within the “normal” range. This range is fairly wide, and some patients tend to feel their best at a certain point in the range.
As Khadijah mentioned, a second opinion might be helpful, since you are obviously experiencing symptoms that affect your quality of life. There are some good referral sites in the “Looking for a Doctor?” thread in the announcements section at the top of the forum.
You deserve to get your life — and your health — back, but it often takes a great deal of assertiveness to get the care that we need!
I had a lot of those same symptoms and I’m 45. I started on a bio-identical progesterone and I have normal cycles again and no cramping. Before I was pretty much in bed with a heating pad for a day.
I’m including a link to Bodylogic MD’s video library because there is a lot of good information such as mood and hormones, Thyroid health, menopause and how all the hormones work together. It has really been helpful to me. I know a lot of doctor’s are skeptical of bio-identical hormones but the site has some really good information on hormones and how they work together and why you could be symptomatic.
@BeckyN9 – We are limited on this site to using links from established medical journals and groups like the American Thyroid Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, National Institutes of Health, etc..
Do you have an alternate link from one of these approved sites that might provide similar information?
As you noted, this is an area of some controversy, and the GDATF board prefers to only cite specific sources here.
Take care!
