I wanted to stop by and give you an update, this forum was so helpful when I was diagnosed last Nov.
So glad I had the thyroidectomy July 28th, I am off all meds except synthroid and starting to feel like my old self.
I had been on methimazole, pradaxa and beta blockers. Also had bad afib and now thats gone too.

I had the rai in January and it did’t work so ended up having surgery and it was the best thing I did. Recovery was easy, only the day after did I take vicodin because it hurt when I swallowed. I asked the surgeon if I would have gotten a 2nd round of rai if she thought it would have worked and she said no. Now ready to tackle the 50 lbs I gained thru all of this. Started on an exercise bike last week and haven’t used these muscles in months.
For those just starting out on this graves jouney, it is a long process but it does get better, just hang in there.
From my experience if you’re on the fence to have the surgery, do it. Wish I could have back in January instead of the rai.

Thanks for stopping by to share your story — it’s so helpful for patients who are in the beginning stages of Graves’ to hear success stories from others!
