The only constant among all of us Graves’ patients is that we’re all different, and our recovery schedules vary widely, so there just isn’t a definite answer for that. The best thing to do is to watch your symptoms carefully, perhaps keep a symptom diary, and also keep a list of classic hypo symptoms. Check yourself against those symptoms and when you see that you are experiencing multiple hypo symptoms on a consistent basis, that’s a good time to get tested. One week apart seems extremely close, but I do understand your desire to catch it immediately. That’s a good impulse.

I’m 9 1/2 weeks post RAI. Two weeks ago my TSH was 0.001 and T4 was 12.5 (high)…..My labs yesterday were, TSH 0.03 and T4 5.0….obviously I’m getting some change. I have not gained a LB..and do not want to!! Should I get my labs done in 1 week? What do ya’ll think?

Enough, I’m glad your getting there. I’m just really down about my symptoms. I had RAI 1 month ago and at first my heat rate went down fast and I was feeling a little better & a lot cooler, still not sleeping good yet. That was short lived. The last 8-10 days I have felt hyper and heart rate is up again, I get hot & tremors, I increased my betablocker. Last night RHR was 89. I feel so awful when I get like this. I’m absolutely worn out. I’m so tired of this. I guess I just need some reassurance from the people that know about this horrible disease from hell.

    Pat,

Sorry that you are going through all those terrible "hyper" symptoms:(

I was in your shoes a month ago! It was terrible!!!!!!! I was feeling GREAT the first month after RAI….then I went "hyper" for an entire month. I feel much much much better this past week…and my labs show that this week.

It will pass. Hang in there and just try to get through each day. Everyone is different with the "dumping" effect, yours may not last that long.

I had a horrible goiter (golf ball) on my neck and had a high dose of RAI. My thyroid was very very active, making it probably a little longer for the RAI to dump all those crazy hormones that had been hanging out in my thyroid and goiter.

Keep your labs up. I have had labs done every two weeks since RAI.
