It has been several months since I last checked in, I wanted to update and take a moment again to thank you all for the help and information you have provided during this process.

timeline: diagnosis confirmed in Feb 09, left eye slightly protruding, had RAI Mar 22 09? was taken off beta blocker & ATM end of June 09. Started synthroid july. (treatment started w/BB, then RAI + ATM’s 2 days after, uptake results had been approx. 60% and also tested very high for the Thyroid Autoimmune hormone or whatever that test said, I think normal ranges went to about 8, and I was a 25 if IIRC)

Endo sees me every 6-8weeks, I have my labs done 1 week before checkup so that Endo will have the results when I go for appointment.

Every appt. since August, I have been still high, so each time the synthroid has been decreased. They started me on 100, then down to 75, now 50, last appt. I was still slightly high so I take the 50 6 days a week and skip Sundays. I will find out how this is working in Feb at next appointment. But I am feeling fine w/this dose at this point.

All through this I have been blessed w/good health and no bad side affects, the worst part was emotional, hearing the initial diagnosis, worrying about my eyes and how the whole process was going to affect me health wise.

I gained about 30 lbs since RAI, but this was mainly due to my inactivity/not watching what I eat. I have started to lose weight by portion control and exercise <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

Endo has said that it usually takes a year after RAI for things to be stabilized, that I may be one of his rare cases where my thyroid is going to still function some and I won’t need much thyroid replacement.

At this point, I am glad to say that I feel that I am moving on beyond the GD diagnosis.
