It’s been 4 weeks since my last labs and I just got new results today that show continued movement in the right direction. At least (more?) as important, I am FEELING so much better. Emotionally I’m still all over the map, but I think that’s the disease as well as being away from the gym for the last 8 weeks. Happy to report, though, that I had my first run since early Dec and FELT GREAT! I was careful to keep tabs on my HR and it was in my normal range for when running. I was not shaky after :)

My resting HR is closer to my normal baseline. I am sleeping better. My weight has stabilized (damn! I was enjoying seeing the needle on the scale go down and down and down – the only nice side effect LOL).

    Labs are as follows:

TSH initial – 0.01; after 2 wks on methimazole 20mg/d remained suppressed; after 6 weeks on methimazole (last 4 15mg/d) remains suppressed

    T3 initial – 403; 2wks – 230; 6 wks – 192
    T4 initial – 18.9; 2wks – 15.6; 6 wks – 13.8

Plan is to continue methimazole 15mg/d and propranalol 60mgER and will recheck labs in 4 wks. I know I’m still way off from “normal” but I am a little worried about swinging too far hypo (even though I know it’s likely to happen at some point). I am going to try to focus on the good – which is how much better I am feeling. Hoping to see improved emotional stability with further hormone level improvement, and with return to the gym :)

Was outrageously itchy a few weeks back, but doubled down and took benadryl and claritin together for a week, then just claritin for 2 more weeks. Itching was nil. Stopped claritin 2 days ago and have been a *little* itchy, but trying to see if it’s going to remain manageable so I can take one med off my daily bowl of pills ;)

Wondering if anyone has had any oral symptoms related to Graves or to methimazole? The past two weeks I have all over tooth pain, which is new. Not sure what else to chalk it up to.

Thanks all! Love knowing I have this place to come from where even if not everybody knows my name, they all know what I’m going through :)

Hello – That’s great news that you are feeling better!

Thyroid and dental issues can definitely be connected. I was having severe tooth pain prior to diagnosis; it turns out I was grinding my teeth when I was hyper. There can be several different causes for tooth pain, though, so best to visit your dentist just to have everything checked out.

Hopefully, things will continue to get better and better!
