    Dear Bobbie,

Thanks for your message. I am under the care of an opthalmologist, but, somehow I don’t feel she has the time to answer all my questions — perhaps, I have too many, but this condition is newly diagnosed since August, and, I am frightened and apprehensive. I’m confused re the blood test results and will call the endocrinologist later this week. He ordered more blood work this past Monday, including a CBC — I’m on a low dose of Tapazole, and am concerned that it might lower my immune system. I’m seriously considering getting a second opinion from both an eye MD and another endocrinologist. I also plan to do more reading. Is there a pamphlet on TED that I could order from your organization?
    Thanks for your help. Nina

    Hi, Nina:

I’m glad you are in the care of an opthamologist.

We cannot interpret lab results, here. There are too many intricacies. That is why we always send folks like you back to the doctor for the interpretation. One thing to keep in mind that sometimes confuses some newcomers to the disease and treatments: “normal” lab results while ON the antithyroid medications like tapazole, mean that the DRUG has returned thyroid hormone levels to normal. It does not mean that without the drug someone’s levels would be normal. I don’t know if that is part of your confusion or not, but I thought I would mention it.

As to bulletins available on the eye disease — there are several. Go to the top of the bulletin board page and drop down the menu under “Resources”. Starting with bulletin two, you will see eye issues discussed.
