I had 2 CT scans with Contrast with in 1.5 years. After the first I felt what I know now as hypo symptoms. Then 2 months before being diagnosed with Hyperthyroid I ad another CT with contrast. Hives and rash started with in 24 hours around the throat and chest. Was DX with Graves 2 months after CT w/contrast

Hello – I read an article earlier this year where one doc was interviewed and said that sometimes this type of test is absolutely necessary…but after the results of this study, he suggested that this testing *not* be used if it’s a situation where the doctor thinks, “well, I’m 99.99% sure this isn’t the problem, but let’s test just in case…”

Going forward, we will hopefully see more careful follow up of patients following the use of this type of testing, particularly those who are at risk for thyroid issues.

As we have seen with this disease. Doctors really don’t know much about how we get this disease or the best practice to treat us. I would prefer a test for early detection instead of the path I have gone down.

That .01% that the Dr did not know for sure is most likely 100% for some of us.

Trudging through this disease trying to make the best of life. I had OD back in Feb and now dealing with blocked frontal sinuses because of the muscles closing off the opening. Going on my 6th week of antibiotics.

I may have this disease but IT does not have me.
