Oh Karen. What a pain in the #$%! Based on Kimberlys post it does sound like there are a few options to help get things sorted with your insurance. Or I guess even temporarily for now with one of the free/low cost clinics. How frustrating with the insurance! It sounds like you do agree how important it is to somehow get that medical attention as soon as possible. (I just tried to put myself in that situation, I know I would be either on the phone doing the rage thing, or in tears)
Keep us posted if you can, I will be thinking of you and wondering how you are going…Good luck!!

@Karen – I would just make sure that your *medical* team is aware of the delays that your insurance company is causing. I suspect the insurance person is more of a paper-pusher and doesn’t understand the importance of being treated for hyperthyroidism!

If your doc recommends that you take action more quickly, perhaps he/she can help with some suggestions on dealing with the red tape and the cost. Or you can always ask to speak to a supervisor at the insurance company. Or you could even get your husband involved in this — perhaps he would rise to the occasion if he was given a specific project that would be helpful!

    Take care!

@Kimberly: you’ve got it completely. They don’t understand and/nor they don’t care. Money is the bottom line.

Now I have to go to Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday not for me but my husband is being threatened with his life insurance policy. If he doesn’t get his spinal specialist to fill out certain paperwork, he could lose his benefits which he wants for me upon his death! So we have to drive 5 hours. I was thinking about getting my blood drawn right there at Cleveland. Then the doctor would get the results ASAP.

Some good news: my primary care notified me that I have no incidence of internal bleeding and platelets are okay, but still have purple-red spots. I don’t know what they could be!

Wow, sorry for the unexpected journey to Cleveland, but that sounds like a good opportunity to get the testing that you need!

Great news about the platelets being OK…hope you can get some relief soon from those spots!

@vanillasky, I live in Cleveland if you have any questions let me know, the Cleveland Clinic campus is quite large. I have been there when both my parents were ill.

Hi Karen, thanks. I know Cleveland Clinic like the backyard here in upstate.

Are you seeing the team of Endocrinologists at the Clinic?

    Karen
