Hello all,

Some of you will remember me from before. Sincere apologies for not being on in such a long time but with 3 small children I find little time to be online, how is everyone? I have often thought of so many of you an say I must locate my password and come on to find out how everyone is…. Then it’s the end of another week and I still haven’t done it!

Well I am still on the roller coaster.. 5 years now of no normal TFT reading my youngest is 7 months old and for a while I felt great and thought oh this is how people feel after babies..that didn’t last long. My TSH was reading 56.5, immense weight gain, hair loss, excessive heavy periods ( at A&E one evening as thought I was heamorraging) complete burn out and in tears most days wondering how on earth I can get through the day without collapsing. Yet as every mother does I plod on at super sonic pace. I feel nauseated, excessive sweating, my limbs feels as though they are crumbling.

I have also been diagnosed with Gilberts syndrome which I am led to believe is very common.

My mindset is Normally very positive and I can keep going but surely after a dramatic measure of having my thyroid removed this should settle down. My endo and GP are baffled. So I am back up to 250mcg of thyroxine and possibly back up to the 300 as before whilst pregnant.

Don’t you just get so tired of this condition? I no longer look like me and to be honest I don’t remember ver feeling any different to this. I am fed up fighting it!

    Ok rant over…and breathe"……….

    Thanks for listening xxxx

Hello – Good to “see” you again, but sorry that you are feeling so poorly. Feel free to rant as needed!

A presenter at our conference last year said that 99% of patients do well on thyroid hormone replacement. For the remaining 1%, he discusses with the patient the option of adding T3 to their regimen. Some patients feel much better when adding T3…but others have found that it actually caused a recurrence of their hypER symptoms. However, since you are feeling so poorly, it would at least be worth asking your doctor about this.

Do you have the opportunity to get a second opinion? It might be worth visiting another doctor, just to see if they have any new insights that they can offer.

Here’s hoping that you can find some relief soon!
