    The majority of people with Graves’ lose weight in the hyper phase. A smaller percentage gain weight. The reason for weight gain is the body goes into survival mode when we are hyper. The body gets tricked into thinking it is on a starvation diet for some folks so the body packs on as much fat as it can from what you eat to help carry the body through what it thinks is lean times.

    That being said, once your levels get back to normal, you follow a regular diet, the body realizes it does not need to horde fat and weight loss will slowly begin to happen. It does not happen overnight. Weight loss after gaining in this case is slow but it will happen.

    I do not know why some bodies hord while others do not. But give it time.

    so back when i was about 12 i was told i have grave’s disease from a specialist but i was not put on meds for it cause she said "its not that bad"
    and in everything that i have read about grave’s disease its know as very active and losing weight but with me
    i’ve always gained wegith and for very few small moments through out my life i have lost weight but i would always gain it back
    and it has gotten worse since i had my son 6 months back
    i have a thyroid appointment in a few days but me and a friend who also has it got in to a fight about it and it got me wondering because hers is way more different them mine i mean i have pretty much all of the same symptoms the only thin g that is really different is that i gain weight not lose it and i was just wondering if any one knew more about it
