Hi friends,
Well I was signed off by a different endo in July….I was very dubious that he felt after one more normal reading (T4 was still high but TSH within range) I was cured. I know if it had been my normal endo he would have requested bloods etc… I certainly didn’t feel cured. However, I think you live so long with fatigue and the symptoms of GD they often become the norm so you forget to mention them?
For the last 2 months I have been experiencing piercing headaches, felt I was going blind in my left eye, eyes very puffed and almost TED looking again, frightening limb paralysis, lying in bed immobile, hands going into spasms, left shoulder pain, nausea, exhaustion and feeling plain awful. I thought perhaps I should visit my GP:D
She looked concerned and had a needle in me within minutes taking blood. She suspects para hypothyroidism. I am trying to stay positive but am ‘gutted’ and to be honest I think she was too on my behalf. Can this happen 4 years post surgery? They checked my calcium levels after the op several times and it was all clear.
Anyone else experiencing this condition? Does it go into remission. Is there anything I can do to help myself along the road?
Thanks again for listening.

Hello – Wow, I’m so sorry to hear that you are now dealing with yet another issue after all that you’ve already been through!
Hopefully some others will chime in, but like you, I’m more familiar with parathyroid issues being identified right after thyroid surgery, instead of years later. However, this site from the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons has some good general info on the parathyroids and hypoparathyroidism.
