Hi Karen – You are certainly not imagining things…I would recommend contacting your doctor and getting your levels checked ASAP, as you definitely don’t want to hop on the hypER rollercoaster again! If you are indeed hypER, your doc will work with you on tweaking your dosage of replacement hormone to get your levels where they need to be again.

Can a person go Hyper again. I had RAI done 9 months ago. Went Hypo and was put on Levo 100mcg. Was feeling great, better than i have felt in awhile. Thought I was done with all the symptons. About a week ago I started feeling Hyper symptons again. I was like oh no, not again. Not being able to sleep, extreme itching again. Sores on my lower legs, fast heartbeat, and sweating like crazy, i drench myself with sweat. I’m embrassed to go many places cause i sweat so bad. Is it possible to go Hyper again. Are am i just imagineing this.
    Thank you so much Karen

Karen you are definitely not crazy! In fact, that’s what’s happening to me as we speak! It was a year on Sat since I had the RAI done and was feeling awesome on the synthroid, now, i’m getting hyper symptoms. Can’t sleep, sweating, heart palps, etc. I called Endo today and they faxed me a script to get blood checked. I guarantee that the blood is off. You should definitely contact your Endo and get your levels checked.

    Good luck! <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

Often after surgery or RAI there is "some" thyroid tissue left. That tissue can respond to antibody attack by revving up, and make a dose adjustment necessary in your replacement hormone. Sometimes we can go more hyPO, as well. That is why it is recommended that we get routine thyroid tests done periodically (like once a year once we are stabilized).

I hope you feel better soon.
