Now that I am on meds, and things seem to be stabilizing (I don’t have lab results yet….doing bloodwork again tomorrow), how likely is it to go hyper again? The shakes have finally settled down and I guess I am concerned that with a drop in doasage, my levels will go Jack up and I will start experiencing all those symptoms again.

I know you can’t predict, but I am just wondering.

Hello – It’s common to need one or more tweaks in methimazole dosage, but each adjustment *should* be getting you closer to the “sweet spot” that will stabilize your levels and get you to feeling well again. As long as your doctor is aware of the guidelines regarding dosing using Free T4 and T3 as guidelines and *not* TSH, this will reduce the risk of going through a series of wild hyper/hypo swings.

I’ve actually gone hyper again a few times on this journey, almost always correlated to extreme stress. The key is to pay attention to your body’s signals, catch it early, and get in to see the doc for a new set of labs if/when you feel those old symptoms coming back.

    Take care!
