    Hi Lisa,

You have hit the nail on the head. You need to see an endocrinologist and an eye surgeon to have your TED evaluated. All to often Generla Practice doctors dismiss Graves’ symtoms as not important.

You are lucky though. You have a first rate support system in the UK. The British Thyroid Foundation http://www.btf-thyroid.org/ is very active in support and treatmeent of Graves’ disease and TED.

Contact them for help and let us know what they did for you. We refer people to them all the time and they have been happy with the support they received and the help they got in seeing different doctors to treat them.

Let us know how it went.

Hi all and thank you for reading my post, I’m so grateful to all that have supported me for the last year.

Im 37, diagnosed with G.D in June 2003 and in 2004 with T.E.D.

Im 8 months post op, total thyroidectomy.

I went to my G.P recently to tell her I wasnt feeling very well and explained all my ailments, she done a blood test and the results were that I am now underactive and increased my dose of levo thyroxine.

However, I’m still unwell and every time I try and speak to my doctor about how I feel she just palms me off with your levels are low and get another test done in 6 weeks. She admits that she does not know anything about G.D. she see’s it as being normal to send me away without even consulting a specialist.

Ive done my own research on the net and have discovered that my ailments could be something quite serious if left untreated, its just not about my levels being out of sinc.

This is worrying so much. I live in the uk and cant understand why I am not under an endo or receiving any treatment for my T.E.D, I have not had an eye test for over a year although my T.E.D is severe.

I feel I am not being taken seriously by my G.P, I think she feels that Ive had my thyroid removed so I must now be okay.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do, how do I get support or do I just leave it and suffer in silence.

    Take Care

    Lisa x
