And I am much worse! :(
For those that remember, last time I was here, I was getting ready for shoulder surgery and on high dose of Methimazole before hand. Surgery went ‘ok’ at best, shoulder will never be right. :( Was badly damaged at work. While out under surgeon’s care, I was fired from my job. YES, that IS legal, wrong on SO many levels, but not illegal. So I lost my medical coverage.

5 months later I got another job and was fired after 2 months because the shoulder prevented me from doing what they wanted. That was 1/2013.

I have been without insurance since 10/2012 and have had no care for my Graves, other than taking metoprolol for tremors and palps.

The same month I lost the insurance I was diagnosed, at the ER, with Gall Stones! Yippee!! Can’t take all the stomach meds with the methimazole.:(

    YEAH! It’s been a battle!:o

BUT!!!! I am now on disability along with workers comp and my Medicare kicked in 2 weeks ago and I have my appt with my Doc tomorrow. WooHoo! Never thought I would be so happy to see him. :) So much that has to be tended to. I’m thinking: back on the methimazole, try to regulate my numbers and then handle the gall bladder, etc. Gonna have to get a ‘script for some type of stomach meds that I take once a day so I can take the methimazole too, since I have to take that twice a day and can’t be taken within 4 hrs of stomach meds.
I saw where several peeps take theirs once a day. Hmmm… gonna have to ask Doc about that.

I am so excited and worried about the visit tomorrow, that I’m up at 2:45 am and can’t sleep. Of course that isn’t unusual. At least twice a week I don’t sleep at all and am up 36-40 hrs until I am so exhausted I finally fall out.
Anyone else up long periods of time between sleep time?

    Much love to everybody!

Hello and welcome back! Hopefully, others will chime in on the sleep issues…I would definitely mention that to your doctor. If you’ve gone very hypER again, that could be the culprit.

Methimazole can be taken once a day. However, it has a somewhat short “shelf-life” in the body, so patients on higher doses will often split the dose throughout the day. Definitely talk to your doctor for his/her opinion. Patients on PTU do need to take that med multiple times during the day.

Take care – hopefully, things will get better from here!

    Thanks Kimberly.
Saw Dr today, go back Fri for blood work. He says I have to take the methimazole twice a day, but gave me a ‘script for tummy meds that is once a day so I don’t have the conflict.
I haven’t ‘gone hyper again’, it has never slowed down, I had no medical care for over 2 years. Been 2.5 yrs since my last blood work.
So hoping to get a handle on this. Most days I can’t get out of bed except to get something to eat etc and I’m right back in bed.
I’m SOOOO tired of being tired! Exhausted all the time but can’t sleep. He said that’s normal under the conditions and just to ‘roll with it’, it’ll get better when the meds kick in. Glad to know I’m not loosing my mind!
He’s pushing for RAI, but I told him I want to try the meds for a few months to see if it helps. If not, then we’ll discuss it.
On top of this, I’m also diabetic and that’s gone haywire too. :(
