    Hi all,

I have been a lurker for some time now and its about time that I say Thank you for this forum. Who knows where i would be without all of the amazing information found on this site.

Brief summary: i was diagnosed with Graves in May after months of crazy symptoms, all of which I attributed to stress, a full time job, 3 kids, and working on my masters degree. I had anxiety, palpitations, and weight loss (but i was trying to lose weight. i was working out with a trainer and running a lot).

I was initially started on MMI 15mg/day based on these labs:May2013
    TSH- 0.01 (0.40-4.0)
    FT4- 3.65 (0.65-2.30)
    FT3- 8.6 (2.1-4.9)

decreased dose to 5mg/day based on these labs
    July 2013
    TSH- 0.01 (0.40-4.50)
    FT4- 1.1 (0.8-1.8)
    FT3- not tested

my TSH has increased to 1.5 (0.4-4.50) since then and my FT4 has been stable at 1.0 (0.8-1.8) since July. Ft3 has not been tested. stayed on 5mg/day

    My current symptoms include:
    weight gain- 12 lbs
    irritability
    tired
    sad/depressed
low or no desire to do anything
severe hair loss (hair comes out in clumps)- I am afraid to shower.

per last endo visit October 2013, he reduced my dose to 5mg every other day but its been 4 weeks and I’m still experiencing this crazy hair loss and other symptoms.

I don’t know what to do. should i decrease my dose even more? I feel like i have gone HYPO???

    PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you,
    Tina

Hello, welcome, and thank you for the kind words about our forum!

We are fellow patients on this forum, so we are not allowed to give medical advice, which includes dosing recommendations. This is a decision that really needs to be made in conjunction with your doctor.

You have done a great job of documenting specific symptoms; I would suggest taking this list to your next appointment. If that appointment is far away, I would call the endo’s office ASAP to let them know what you are experiencing and that you need to get a quicker set of labs. If your schedule is flexible, you can ask to be placed on the cancellation list, which can get you in sooner. You deserve to get some relief!
