I do not know much about the impact of too much thyroid hormone on muscle action – I tried to research it with little luck. But I have read that there are a couple of issues.

First, muscles have some type of “recovery” mechanism from exertion/movement/etc. and too much thyroid hormone seems to interfere with the biochemistry of that recovery.

Second, we actually lose muscle mass, especially in the large muscles of the body (the arms, legs, chest). That makes us weaker, so the muscles “tremble.”

When you get well, get controlled levels of thyroid hormone, the muscle mass slowly comes back (at least some of it), and after you have properly exercised to strengthen it, you should expect to be able to go back to your normal activities. I remember how euphoric I was when — on a trip with my husband and young-adult children — I was able to keep up climbing up two or three dozen stairs. When I got to the top, I felt like Rocky at the Philadelphia art museum. ; )
