Headaches are listed as one of the side effects possible with methimazole (Tapazole). You should check with your doctor about it.

    Hi,

I am starting to have some really wild headaches. I woke up last night with a doozie…

Is this normal when taking Tap? As I just started the headaches ad Tapazole last week?

    Thanks.

P.S. These are really weird headaches… Just a sharp pain in one side of my head…

I started having horrible headaches about five months ago. They include nausea & vomiting followed by a headache lasting about 3-4 hours. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease last week after noticing a sudden weight loss. I also experience shaky hands, blured vision, rapid heart rate, and a major thirst for water. I don’t find that Tylenol or Ibuprofen help at all. I go to my mom’s so she can take care of my baby while I go to sleep. After sleeping for about 3 hours I start feeling better. Is this the same kind of headaches that other people with Graves Disease have?

I have had those type of headaches too. I normally do not vomit with them. I do have the other sysmptoms like nausea, extreme thirst, etc. Advil helps most of the time, but sometimes I have had to take prescription-strength Ibuprofen to get rid of them.

I sleep like you do and that makes me feel bertter too. Maybe this will help you too. Try using a warm cloth on where it hurts and that relieves some of the pressure in your head and helps ease the pain. Other people on this board said that ice packs can help too. Also when I get nauseous, I eat some saltines, drink some 7UP or Coca-Cola. Sometimes ice cream helps me too.

I would also tell your endo what is going on. Maybe he can help you too. I am very sorry that you are getting these headaches. They are not fun!! I wish you the very best and hope some of the tips here or your endo help so that you will feel better soon.

    Take care.
