Survival tips for Thanksgiving: You don’t have to do it all. It doesn’t have to be the way it “usually” is. Try to figure out what you can, reasonably do today, and stick to it. The joys of Thanksgiving are in the getting together with friends and family — not in having specific foods, fashioned in specific ways. YOU are the special part of the day to your family and friends. If, this year, you are weak and ill, be good to yourself today.
I wish you all a lovely day, enjoying friends and family.
Bobbi — NGDF Online FacilitatorJust wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Hope all are feeling well.
I know I am spending less time on the site now that the holidays are approaching. I do a lot of needlework for presents and I find that when I do get on the site, I spend a lot of time searching old bulletins and lose precious time for my crafts. I still get on a couple times a week to do searches. Scheduled for RAI in mid-January and I’m trying to learn all that I can. I need to get bloodwork done as I have been feeling sluggish for the past week. Sleeping a lot more than normal. Usually when this happens the doctor lowers my dosage of Methimazole. I’m on 5mg now. I don’t think they can go much lower.
I have to take a class before the RAI. Does anyone know where I can get the standard info now. I like to prepare as much as possible in advance.
Happy Thanksgiving!
HI Mammaw-
What class do you have to take? Is it to prepare for the RAI? I am asking because I have not seen the endo yet, could not get me in until Dec., My GP wants me to have the RAI also. I like to have all the info as well and did not realize there was a class you had to take. Well I hope you are getting your crafts done and Happy Thanksgiving hope you are feeling better soon with the tiredness.Standingfirm
I was told by my endo that there is a class the week prior to the RAI. She gives the RAI in a group, so they get the group together the week prior to receive the info necessary on the restrictions as to other people, food handling, etc. after receiving the RAI. Also, all questions will be answered as to what to expect, etc. and all paperwork will be signed at that time. I just wanted to know what others were told.
I hope all goes well at your endo appointment in December. I would suggest taking a list of questions with you, as we tend to forget with Graves. I progressed from taking a notepad and a friend to appointments, to a 3×5 index card over the last 11 months. The doctor responds well to a list of questions. I also do this when seeing my GP. They know I’m not leaving until they are answered, but I do try to limit it to 3-5 questions.
Good Morning, all!
Jake and I want to wish everyone a very, relaxed Happy Thanksgiving.
Remember to take time for yourselves and it’s “okay” to not do things the “usual” way this year. The most important things are taking care of Y.O.U. and being with family and friends. Jake and I both understand not feeling well and stuggling to make the holiday the best it can be. We also know our best holidays have been the simpliest ones, so keep that in mind. The last thing Graves’ folks need is STRESS.So, with that, relax and enjoy and allow your families to take over this holiday for you…let the store or restaurant help you out and allow yourselves the privledge of being “Queen” or “King”(We know there are a few of you out there).
May the Great Spirit Bless You All,
Jan & Jake -
