HEY ALL! Well I thought that things were getting better. I am now regulated on 100 mg synthroid. (after numerous blood tests.) My hair stopped falling out for about a month and now it is falling out again.
Plus I look like hell! I don’t feel bad its just my eyes look like I am tired or high all the time. I have never felt this ugly. Plus anything I eat gives me horrible (and I mean horrible) gas. Any hope to look like myself again? At least I think my weight has stabalized.
Thanks for listening.Jeanne
Hi everyone. I don’t know what I would have done without this bulletin board the past 9 months.
I had my RAI in May and went hypo in late July. I am on my second 6 week try at the correct dose of Synthroid and it still doesn’t feel right. But I am working with my Doc’s and we will get it right sometime.
My question is how much hair can a person lose??? I am losing so much hair every day that I am afraid I will soon lose it all. I realize that the hair is the last thing to ‘get well’, but has anyone ever had to get a wig? I normally have very thick hair, but it is really thin now. I have a friend who has had many different health issues and this caused her to lose most of her hair. She said a dermatologist told her to use Power Plus or Power X Plus shampoo, conditioner and treatment. Has anyone heard of this and if it works for our type of hair lose. It is quite expensive and requires a beauty operator to get it at the beauty supply. Just thought I would ask.
Thanks!!
Cindy
I know nothing of the product line that you mentioned. Typically, as you know, hair comes out in wads when we have recently gone hypo from the hyper state, and it stops — or slows way down — once we are stabilized at normal levels of hormone. It is important to stop using any harsh products on the hair during this time — no perms, dyes — and to keep to a minimum any “fussing” we do with hair (i.e. “teasing” to create an updo can make the hair look dull and lifeless, in addition to having more fall out). But I’ve not heard that using any particular product helps. “Health” is truly the issue with our hair — unless we are healthy, our hair isn’t, and I don’t know that specific products put on top of the hair are capable of addressing the underlying problems that are causing the hairs to fall out quicker-than-normal.
