Just had 3 wall orbital decompression surgery. It went well, the doctor said, though I bled and had major bruising around my eye…really black. That is clearing nicely…but my vision in that eye is still very blurry. Is this permanent? I know they do the surgery to save my eyesight. I was hoping that I wouldnt have to tape my eye anymore at night but it still wont close all the way. Will I be able to close my eye after the swelling from the surgery goes down? My vision is still double but it was that way before the surgery. I’m expecting that in the future I will need strabismus surgey and lastly eyelid surgery….but thank God I got the “big” one out of the way.I relly was hoping that my eye would set back more but it still protrudes more than my “good” eye. any comments or support appreciated at this time…thanks, Gerri

    Dear Alaska Mom,

What a major surgery you have been through. It’s good to look at it as a step process. This is the ‘big one.’ You may not see the results yet, but give it time. Just try not to worry about the upcoming weeks and months, this was such a huge step. Give your body time to heal. Just try to imagine the final phase after the eyelid surgery — you’ll be back to your normal appearance and it will feel absolutely wonderful. You can’t rush this whole process. Just vizualize how good it will feel in the near future. Best wishes to you, Alaska mom! Hang in there!
