Let me say first of all how great a resource this bulletin board and web site are! I have never posted to this bulletin board before now, but have been reading the posts for the past few weeks. I wish I could say I will be joining you all at the conference, especially since I am only a state away, but finances won’t permit.
As it stands right now, I am still not much past being newly diagnosed. I tested as being mildly hyperthyroid about 5 years ago, but at the time, no other symptoms were evident, so it was dismissed as likely caused by a particular medication I was taking. Since then, my regular doctor and I have many times tried to pinpoint my chronic and progressive problems with fatigue, concentration and sleep. Nothing came from all that testing, so it appeared that it must come from my chronic depression. I have spent the time (years) since working on treatment for that. Needless to say, many medications later, I have yet to find one that works for me, but that’s always an ongoing process and not what we’re here to talk about.
I had started developing occasional symptoms of a pounding, rapid pulse probably a couple years ago or more. At first it was mild and came and went – most often not there, but would crop up at times when it could be explained by something like getting over a sinus infection or somesuch. It became more frequent over time until a year or so ago when it had progressed to a daily occurrence and much more noticeable. It was never picked up when my pulse was checked at the doctor’s, even when I could feel it, and would go as quickly as it came.
