    Yes, quite a few folks who have posted to this board over the years developed the eye disease prior to having any discernable problem with their thyroids. Typically when this happens, our doctors make sure to check our thyroids (via a blood test) at least once a year. You, also, could make sure that this is being done. Getting the eye disease is no guarantee that you will later develop thyroid problems, but it happens to enough of us that making sure our levels are checked periodically is a good idea.

    I was just diagnosied w/ Graves by my eye doctor. My only symptom is my protruding eye. All my thyriod test keep coming back normal. Has any any one else been diagnosed w/ Graves but have a noraml thyriod. Also Im scheduled to have the decompression surgery in a week , does it really hurt that bad. Im kind of nervous have never had surgery before.
